We realize that bringing a new pet into your family is an important decision and we take great pride in having your puppy ready to join your family with proper vaccinations, great nutrition, and lots of love as they enter your home! All of our Bernese Mountain Dog puppies are fed with high quality food and come with a 36-month Health Guarantee (see refund/return policy below).​

Hips & Elbows
We offer a 36-Month Health Guarantee for Hips and Elbows for pups that remain on the Life’s Abundance “All Life Stages” Nutritional System. (To learn more about Life's Abundance please click on the "Nutrition" Tab). The following applies: the puppy must have a new x-ray by your veterinarian to confirm the diagnosis and it must be documented by an official OFA preliminary consultation.
Eyes
We offer a 36-Month Health Guarantee for Eyes for any puppy found to have congenital eye disease that has remained on the Life’s Abundance “All Life Stages” Nutritional System. (To learn more about Life's Abundance please click on the "Nutrition" Tab). The following applies: Diagnosis must be from a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist.
Proper Puppy Care and Whelping Procedures
We guarantee that your puppy has had proper care to date, has been examined by a veterinarian, and that your puppy has received its first shots and been de-wormed. Shot records will be provided with your puppy.
Heart
We offer a 36-Month Health Guarantee on any puppy found to have a severe heart murmur (grade 5/6 or 6/6) that has remained on Life’s Abundance “All Life Stages” Nutritional System. (To learn more about Life's Abundance please click on the "Nutrition" Tab). The following applies: The puppy must have a canine cardiologist perform an echogram to confirm the diagnosis.
AKC Limited Registration
All of our puppies come with AKC Limited Registration Papers, unless otherwise agreed upon (Limited Registration allows you to register your puppy with AKC as a pet, but they are under a Spay/Neuter Contract). Puppies are Bernese Mountain Dogs; both parents are registered with AKC. A copy of your puppy's AKC Limited Registration will be given upon receipt of your puppy or within one month.
Limitations of Guarantee
3-Year Hip, Elbow, Heart, and Eye Guarantee Limitations:
Because canine hip/elbow dysplasia, heart, eye, and so many other preventable illnesses are related to poor nutrition. We require that your precious puppy continue on Purina Pro Plan, The Farmer's Dog, or Life's Abundance food for the first 36 months of his/her life in order to qualify for this 3-Year Health Guarantee. Or you may consult with your veterinarian for your puppy's specific needs. Our puppy guarantees become void if your puppy is not kept on one of the aforementioned food options for the first 36 months of his/her life. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! We highly recommend you continue to keep your pet on these foods beyond the guarantee period to promote optimal health for a lifetime.

The following will void all guarantees:
- Allowing your puppy to become obese or underfed at any time.
-- Underfed: ribs are highly visible. Ideal body condition: can feel and see outline of ribs.
-- Obese: has no waist when viewed from above; belly is rounded when viewed from side.
- Evidence of neglect or abuse.
- Previous related trauma (broken bones, related injuries, etc.).
- Dog has been bred.
- Evidence of strenuous exercise. For example: no treadmill, no jogging, no extensive standing on back of legs, no excessive retrieving or playing on slippery floors.
- No accidents, negligence, or poisonings.
- This guarantee is non-transferrable; puppy must be owned by the original owner named in the puppy agreement.

Refund Policy
If, within one week of receiving your puppy, he/she is examined by a reputable veterinarian and the health of the puppy is found to be at serious risk due to a congenital defect (existing at birth), we require you to notify us and provide a written statement from a licensed veterinarian describing your puppy’s condition. In this unlikely event, you may return your puppy and papers to us within one week of the examination. We will replace your puppy or refund the full price of the puppy provided he/she is in the same condition mentally and physically as when originally purchased. This does not include worms, fleas, mites, coccidiosis, giardia, or any other parasites, as they are common in dogs and puppies. Rusty Brows Berners assumes no responsibility for veterinarian or shipping fees, nor are we responsible if your puppy contracts a communicable disease after leaving our possession.

After the first week, if your puppy is deemed to have a serious health risk:
Upon receipt of a letter to Rusty Brows Berners from a reputable veterinarian stating that in his/her opinion this condition is congenital, your puppy will be replaced by a puppy of equal value at our availability/ability, or we will refund 50% of the puppy purchase price – buyer’s choice. We reserve the right to have a second opinion from our veterinarian. We also reserve the right to acquire DNA to determine the dog or puppy as one of our lineages, at our expense.
Should a dog purchased under this agreement be returned or exchanged for any reason whatsoever, the buyer/owner is responsible for all transportation expenses, veterinarian charges, crate fees, airfreight charges, and transport fees to and from the involved airports.
Rusty Brows Berner's Disclaimers:
- we do not guarantee color, size, championship, or temperament of any puppy.
- we retain the right, at our sole discretion, to cancel our contract with you at any time and for any reason prior to the puppy reaching 8 weeks of age. If we opt to cancel our contract with you, we will refund your entire deposit within one week of cancellation.
- we make no guarantee regarding the loss of a puppy due to accidental death, theft, sickness due to lack of vaccinations, etc, or any other loss beyond Rusty Brows Berner's control, except as stated above.
- we have the right, at any time, to discontinue breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs.
